Before the Interview Day

• Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) and/or Dean’s Letter
• Official medical school transcript
• USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK OR COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2
• Minimum of 2 letters of recommendation (at least 1 clinical internal medicine letter recommended)
• Curriculum vitae and Personal Statement
• Preferred year of graduation in the previous 2 years

For the 2026-2027 cycle, we are able to sponsor J-1 visas only. International applicants must be ECFMG-certified by the rank order list deadline.

The Interview Day

Interviews for the internal medicine program at HCA Healthcare Riverside Community Hospital will be conducted virtually on Thalamus. Interviews take place on Tuesday- and Thursday-afternoons from late October through mid-January, excluding the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.

We recommend that you test your camera, audio, and internet connection ahead of time. Ensure you are in a quiet, well-lit environment. If you experience technical difficulties on the day of your interview, contact our coordinator immediately.

The interview day will start with brief introductions of the leadership team and include an overview of our program. We will discuss highlights of our program, training site, facilities, and curriculum.

You will then have three faculty interviews. Two will be with members of our leadership team, teaching faculty, or PGY-3 resident, each allotted 20 minutes. You will also meet individually with Dr. Hwang, our program director. Interviews are generally conversational, with some behavioral and scenario-based questions.

During the week of your interview, you will have an additional opportunity to meet with current residents. This session is strictly informal and un-scored.

After the Interview

If you have additional questions or updates to share, please reach out directly to our recruitment team. We do not expect or require thank-you notes, emails, or letters of intent. Post-interview communications will not affect your standing on our rank order list.
